It is with sadness but a sense of peace that we announce that Austin Philip Touchbourne went to be with his Lord on September 22, 2025, at the Saint John Regional Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on November 18, 1947, in Saint John, to the late James and Hazel (Drummond) Touchbourne, and was the loving husband of 54 years to his wife, Deborah (Wellman) Touchbourne.
Philip worked as a Pressman for many years at various printing companies to provide for his family. He was a very kind, gentle and loving man who was solid like an oak tree, always providing shelter and looking after his family and friends. No one who knew him had a bad word to say about him, and he had friends everywhere. Philip was very connected to nature and he and Deborah loved to go down to the shoreline and watch the waves crash in, or sit on their deck and watch the blue jays feed. He was an active member of Bethany Pentecostal Church and continued after it became the North Side Assembly. Philip loved the Lord with all of his heart and believed that true greatness came from believing in him. He knew where his life was leading him and he lived it proudly. He will be deeply missed by everyone who had the privilege to know him.
Along with his loving wife, Deborah, he is survived by his children, Rachael-Ann (Steve Johnston) and Rev. Jeremiah (Tiffany) Touchbourne; his 3 adored granddaughters, Marisa, Joseline and Isabelle; his brothers, Robert (Mary) and James; as well as several nieces, nephews, and so many friends.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Francis; his sisters, Elizabeth and Irene; and his sister-in-law, Carolyn.
Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (506-646-2424) where visitation will be held on Friday from 2-4 & 6-8pm. A funeral service will take place on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at 2pm from the North Side Assembly (363 Millidge Avenue). A private interment will take place in Cedar Hill Cemetery at a later date. For those who wish, memorial donations made to the North Side Assembly would be appreciated by his family.
