It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Arlene Elizabeth (Kierstead) Robertson, surrounded by the love of her family, at the Saint John Regional Hospital on September 25, 2022. She was born in Sisson Ridge, NB, on April 1, 1940, to the late Otis and Pearl (Carvel) Kierstead and has been the loving spouse of 7 years to Les Robertson.
Arlene was a happy and friendly woman, who maintained her own counsel but was willing to listen and help anyone with anything she could. She was strong, and she was resilient. Her life put her through some struggles but she always bounced back stronger than before. She was blessed with a green thumb and was able to cultivate plants and vegetables every year that would be the envy of most of her neighbours. She was a really great cook and liked to use her own home-grown items to make those wonderful meals. She liked to take long drives, and got a bit of a travel bug later in her life. Her and her husband liked to go on “Nancy’s Tours” which were bus tours all around New Brunswick, and 4 separate times she travelled across the ocean to visit her daughter when she lived in Wales. She often talked about going back again. Arlene loved bowling and needlework and was great with latch hooking rugs. She loved to laugh and despite her more recent health struggles, she maintained her sense of humor, her strength and that ever present resilience that so many admired. She was a special woman and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her husband, Les, she is survived by her son, R. Lloyd (Kathleen) Charlton; her daughters, Elizabeth (Robert) Shepherd, Barbara (Tim) Lamb, and Cheryl (Rob) Green; 4 grandchildren, Allan, Amanda, Samantha and Nicholas; 5 great grandchildren, Connor, Joshua, Carter, Gabriel and Cole.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her granddaughter, Jessica Charlton.
Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) where visitation will take place on Tuesday from 2-4 & 6-8pm. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 28, 2022, at 10am from the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow in Riverbank Cemetery in Norton.
