Arlene Hitchcock Obituary

It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend Arlene Marie Hitchcock, on June 8, 2026.

Born in Little River, New Brunswick, on March 18, 1934, Arlene was the daughter of the late William and the late Cora (Corrum) Geldart.

Arlene is predeceased by her husband, Ronald Hitchcock, her parents William and Cora Geldart, and her siblings Pat Beaman, Bobby Gill, Billy Denny, Floyd Geldart and Faye Cochran.

Arlene leaves behind her two sons, Wayne (Audrey) Hitchcock and Tom (Anita) Hitchcock, her grandchildren Ginny (Rich) Adams, Erin Hitchcock (Jay Harrison), Alex (Chon) Hitchcock, and Marsha Hitchcock (Heather McLeary), and her great granddaughter Fiona Adams.

After her retirement from her position at the Perth Medical Clinic, Arlene led an adventurous life and loved the outdoors. She enjoyed skiing the hills here in New Brunswick, and in Quebec and Maine. She also enjoyed snowmobiling, canoeing, and was an avid gardener. She enjoyed many beautiful days and evenings boating from their home on the Tobique River head pond, and was particularly happy sharing that with her family.

Arlene also developed a great love of nature and the animals that she shared it with. She always loved the spring time with the new born birds and animals around. She particularly liked the crows and enjoyed the ones that frequented the woods around their home.

Arlene loved her family above all and actively engaged in theirs lives as they grew and had families of their own. She and Ron moved to Saint John in 2004 to be closer to family.  She always looked forward to spending time with her grandchildren and her great granddaughter. She was always wanting to know how everyone was doing. Her love, strength and her sense of humor will be greatly missed by all of us.

The family would like to express their gratitude for the care and kindness given by the Department of Internal Medicine and the Hematology Department of the Saint John Regional Hospital. It gave Arlene, and us, great comfort.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John, NB (506-646-2424). Per Arlene’s wishes there will not be a service but donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be welcome and appreciated.
