It is with utter devastation that the family of Amber Desiree Rose Smith announces her passing on January 6, 2026, at the age of 23. Born in Saint John, New Brunswick, on July 26, 2002, Amber came into this world alongside her twin sister, Emily Smith, and her brother, Rheal, and was raised by her parents, Brandi Leblanc and Corey Smith. From the very beginning, her life was defined by deep connection, loyalty, and love. To know Amber was to feel understood. She had a rare way of making people feel seen, loved, and valued, often as the loudest and most vibrant presence in the room.
Amber lived an active and engaged life. She committed herself to Sea Cadets and participated in basketball, cheerleading, singing, and many other activities, thriving on challenge, teamwork, and movement. While she loved staying busy, what mattered most to Amber was spending time with her friends and family, making the most of every day. She approached life with openness and curiosity, always ready for the next experience. She laughed fully, loved deeply, and gave more of herself than she ever asked for in return. Her presence filled rooms, and her absence now leaves a silence that cannot be replaced.
Above all else, Amber was a loving mother to her son, Gregor. He was the greatest love of her life. Everything she did carried him in mind, from her dreams for the future to the way she spoke of him with pride and love. Her love for Gregor was fierce, protective, and unconditional. Through him, her character, laughter, and spirit will continue on, and he will always carry a piece of her with him.
In addition to her parents, Corey and Brandi, her twin sister and brother Rheal and Emily, Amber will be lovingly remembered by her son Gregor, her sister Jessica, her uncles Andrew, Alan, and Josh, her aunts Sarah, Tara, and Amanda, her grandmothers Christine, Carol, Sue her grandfather Dean, and her many cousins, friends, and extended family who loved her deeply. She was predeceased by her brother Brandon and her grandfather John.
Amber’s life mattered. She was deeply loved, and will never be forgotten.
