Alice Judith Clark (née McKim), known as Judi, was born in Saint John, New Brunswick on May 3, 1952. Her first friend was her older brother George, and they had a close and special relationship that endured until his tragic passing in 2003. Judi was a proud aunt to George and Charlotte’s children Megan (Steve), Darcy (Krista), Ryan (Jill), and Cara, and great aunt to Cara, Erin, Brooke, Kate, Claire, George and Elizabeth, and many nieces and nephews in the Clark family.
As a girl, Judi loved riding horses and being a Girl Guide. She had many fond memories of camping, making new friends, and traveling to jamborees in Canada and the US. She was a member of the drama club at school and was a voracious reader from an early age.
Judi had many interests and hobbies. She loved reading and proudly displayed her vast collection of books. She relished in making homemade cards to celebrate birthdays, holidays and events in the lives of the people she loved. Judi was also passionate about scrapbooking, and if you were among the lucky people to receive one, you know how much love and hard work she put into making them.
A dedicated public servant, Judi worked for the Government of New Brunswick for over 35 years. She had a fulfilling career helping vulnerable people in their greatest time of need. She spent many years as a librarian at the Saint John School of Nursing, and finished her career as a case manager for the Department of Social Development. Even after retirement, Judi was proud to stand on the picket line with her former colleagues and CUPE members.
Judi was a devoted member of the Christian Fellowship Church in Quispamsis. She loved her community of fellow congregants and appreciated all of their love and support over the years.
In June 1980 Judi traveled to a church convention in Indiana, where she met her future husband Lewis “Louie” Clark. They were married a few months later on August 22 in Lordsburg, New Mexico. For almost 45 years, Judi remained happily married to the love of her life.
In May 1982, a week after her 30th birthday, Judi gave birth to her only child, her pride and joy, son Jeffrey Clark. She was a loving, devoted and protective mother who encouraged and supported Jeff, especially his pursuit of acting and comedy. Judi was Jeff’s biggest fan.
Judi loved travel and had fond memories of places such as Montreal, Toronto, Regina, Calgary, Banff, Indiana, the Bahamas, and Arizona to visit Louie’s large family. She also loved family camping trips to Maine; her favourite spots were Bar Harbour and Old Orchard Beach.
On her most recent visit to Toronto, Judi enjoyed taking in the sites, visiting the Toronto Islands with Jeff and his partner, Jennifer, and attending a late summer Toronto Blue Jays game under the open dome roof and the lights of the CN Tower.
Judi was loyal and dutiful; compassionate, loving and sensitive; smart, witty and curious. She will always be missed and never forgotten.
