Alfred Saulnier

It is with great sadness that the family of Alfred Saulnier announces his passing on January 12, 2026, at the age of 85, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on June 29, 1940, in Tracadie, New Brunswick, he was the son of the late Charles and Yvonne (née Brideau) Sonier.

Alfred is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years, Anita (née Arseneault); his son Paul (Monique); his daughter Helen; his cherished grandchildren Melissa, Michelle, Jordan, and Courtney; and his beloved great-grandchildren Shanika, Jayda, Raiden, Jaz, Kade, and Eden. He also leaves behind his brothers Raymond, Hector, and Lionel; his sisters Jeannita Mallet and Collette Benoit; as well as many nieces and nephews.

For many years, Alfred worked as a manager with Fundy Linen, where he was known for his dedication, reliability, and strong work ethic until his retirement. That same work ethic followed him home, where he could often be found fixing, building, or improving something.

Alfred had a warm smile and a quick joke for everyone he met. He had a special way of making people feel welcome and at ease, as though he had known them all their lives. His quiet humour, kind presence, and genuine interest in others left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to cross his path.

Above all else, Alfred’s greatest pride and joy was his family. He was a loving husband, a devoted father, and a deeply proud grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren and daughter in law, sharing stories, laughter, and creating memories that will be treasured forever. Being surrounded by family brought him his greatest happiness, and providing for those he loved meant everything to him.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John, NB, E2J 2G3 (506-646-2424). A funeral service will be held in the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, January 18, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honour Alfred’s memory may make a donation to a charity of their choice.
