Albert Joseph Guay

It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of Albert Joseph Guay, loving and devoted husband of 68 years to Margaret (Thibodeau) Guay, which occurred at his residence on Monday, November 28, 2022. He was born on September 6, 1930 and was a son of the late Albert and Angeline (Martin) Guay.

Albert was a pipe fitter by trade and worked for Saint John Shipbuilding. He was a proud, dedicated, and well-respected member of Plumbers and Pipefitters United Association, Local 213.  

Devoted to his faith, Albert was a faithful parishioner of Stella Maris Catholic Church.

Many will remember him as an avid outdoorsman who respected nature and cherished the days at the camp with his family and times spent fly fishing, hunting and growing his garden each year.

Albert shared a great sense of humour throughout his life and had a quick sense of wit, finding humour in many situations.  He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.  

Along with his wife Margaret, Albert is survived by his children; Alan (Colleen) Guay, Marlene (Gerry) Snodgrass, Janet (Allan) Flewelling, Dianne (John) Beyea and Maryann (Andrew) Kelly, 3 sisters; Joan (Earl) Doyle, Florence Verner and Irene Doyle. Also left to mourn are his 7 grandchildren; Christina Saunders, Jossilynn Flewelling, Bradley Beyea, Kale Guay, Emily Guay, Craig Kelly and Devan Kelly, 6 great-grandchildren; Nathan, Natalie, Hunter, Myles, Addison and Avery.

In addition to his parents, Albert is predeceased by his brothers Gerard Guay and Francis Guay along with his sister Marie Verner, brothers in-law Thomas Verner and Leonard Doyle, and sister in-law Josie Guay.

Our family wishes to thank all healthcare professionals, in particular Dr. Poirer and Dr. Garland for their support, care and compassion shown towards Albert and our family.

Albert will be resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation hours being held on Wednesday, November 30th between the hours of 10:00am – 1:30pm. Funeral Liturgy will follow in the Fundy Chapel at 2:00 PM with interment taking place at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
