Albert Chevarie Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Albert Joseph Chevarie on May 5, 2020, at the Saint John Regional Hospital, with family by his side.  He was born in Saint John on April 17, 1955 to the late George and Gloria (Godin) Chevarie.

Albert worked for many years at the Saint John Shipyard as a painter and held other roles in the construction industry.  He was quite proud of the fact that he and his father had the opportunity to work together closely in construction for many years before his father’s passing.

Albert was a first and foremost a family man; he loved his family dearly.  He enjoyed weekend camping with friends & family in his younger years - playing guitar by the fire at night.  Albert loved to cook, enjoyed fishing and gardening.  Some of Albert’s favorite memories come from making the long drive to visit his favorite aunt, Jeannette and uncle, Lionel and his cousins, “Down Home” in the North Shore.  He enjoyed socializing with everyone, but he especially loved spending time with his family, friends and his beautiful grandchildren who brought him so much joy.  He was a wonderful man, taken far too soon, but he left a lot of lasting memories behind.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Joyce (Dorie) Chevarie; his daughter, Tara (Cory) Abbott; son, Steve (Catherine); 2 adored grandchildren, Mackenzie and Colby; his sister, Ginette (Terry) Chevarie-Pyne; brothers Paul and Raymond (Bea); and his special cat, Archie (meow!).

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by brother, Roger Chevarie.

Albert’s family would like to take this time to thank the nurses and staff on 3CS for their exceptional care and compassion.

Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424).  Due to these uncertain times during COVID-19, services will be held at a later date.  For those who wish, donations in his memory to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Heart & Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick or to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by his family.
