William Mitchell Obituary

The family of William (Bill) Mitchell, husband of Shirley (Smith) Mitchell, are deeply saddened to announce his passing which occurred on September 9, 2019 at the Saint John Regional Hospital.  Born in Saint John he was the son of the late Charles and Marion (Lee) Mitchell.

He was employed with the Saint John Dry Dock Ltd. and retired as the Light house Keeper at Cape Spencer.  In his earlier years he was in the oil delivery business.  He was very mechanically inclined and was always helping others with his skills.  His second home was his camp in Wirral and he enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Besides his wife he is survived by his son Stephen (Alice) of Mispec, his daughter Linda (Tom) Rutherford of Saint John, his brothers Bob Mitchell  (Geraldine) and Gordon 'Bud' Mitchell (Mary), his sisters Dorothy Boddington (Fred) and Pat Mitchell, all of Saint John, his seven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and several cousins, nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his six sisters.

At his request, following cremation there will be no visiting or funeral service.  The arrangements are under the care of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424).  Remembrances made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated.
