William "Bill" MacDonald

With heavy hearts the family of William (Bill) Ernest MacDonald announces his passing that occurred on Thursday February 28, 2019 at Shannex. Born December 29, 1930 in Saint John, he was the son of the late William and Marion (Galbraith) MacDonald.

Bill was employed as an auditor with Revenue Canada for 32 years, retiring in 1986. He was the past president of FCGA NB Branch and an elder at Grace Presbyterian Church.  He was a generous supporter of many local foundations and charities and a member of the St. Mary’s Band for 45 years. 

He will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 61 years, Irene (London) MacDonald; son Rob (Karen) of Halifax; daughters Heather (Wayne) Crawford of Rothesay, Janet (Mark) Reid of Darlings Island and Valeri (Dale Weeks) of St. Stephen; sister Betty Reid of Calgary, AB; 5 grandchildren Jordan, Erik, Stephanie (Craig), Ben (Andrea) and David; great-grandchildren Charlotte, Brooklyn and Aubree; sister-in-law Vivian MacDonald; several cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Allan and brother-in-law John Reid.

Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Rd with visitation being held on Sunday March 3, 2019 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at Grace Presbyterian Church, 101 Coburg Street on Monday March 4, 2019 at 11 a.m. The family would appreciate donations to the Cherry Brook Zoo or the donor’s choice.
