Vera Minerva (Currie) Campbell

With sadness and a sense of peace for a long life, well lived, the family of Vera Minerva (Currie) Campbell announce her peaceful passing on November 25, 2016 at Rocmaura Nursing Home.  She was born in Glenwood, PEI, on December 3, 1922 to the late Florence (Floss) Currie, was raised by her loving aunt and uncle, John and Hilda Currie, and was the loving wife of the late Albert Campbell.

Vera was a caring person.  She always insisted that people should be treated as you would ask to be treated yourself, and she could never abide by those that didn’t care for the well-being of others.  Vera and her husband ran a municipal home in Norton, and then she began working for CentraCare for many years as a psychiatric attendant.  She enjoyed playing a game of cards; especially crib, and had a great sense of humor.  She always rooted for the underdog, was known for her (tuneless) singing, and was very well loved by her family and the staff of Rocmaura Nursing Home where she spent the last of her living days. 

She is survived by her son Raymond Campbell and daughter Lillian Lewis, both of Saint John, as well as several grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. 

Along with her parents and husband, Vera was predeceased by her children; John Campbell (in infancy), Richard (Dicky) and Roger Campbell, and, as well as Mary Lee Clement and Sandra Currie, son-in-law Harold Lewis, and great grandson Brent Kelly.

Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) where visitation will be held on Sunday from 6-8pm.   A funeral service will be held in the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, November 28, 2016 at 10am.  An interment in Midland Cemetery will follow a reception held at Fundy Funeral Home.  In lieu of flowers, donations made to the Rocmaura Foundation or to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by Vera’s family.
