Susan Alice (Dougherty) Rideout

After a hard fought and courageous battle with cancer, Susan Alice (Dougherty) Rideout passed away peacefully on June 25, 2019 at Bobby’s Hospice with her loving family by her side.  She was born in St. Stephen, NB, on May 5, 1961 to the late Robert and Alice (McCarthy) Dougherty.

Sue was a caregiver by trade, working as a Registered Nurse in various health care facilities over the years.  She was the life of the party wherever she went.  Her love of music always kept her dancing around and she was most certainly not quiet - you definitely knew she was there.  She loved to ride ATV’s and stay at Moose Manor, watch movies, play 45’s and pool, and she loved shopping for everyone else over herself.  She was a fighter and was one of the strongest people around.  She was a great and compassionate nurse exuding extraordinary care to all of her patients.   Sue left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of meeting her and she will be deeply missed. 

She is survived by her children Gary and Ashley Rideout and their father Malcolm, chosen sister Debbie Breau and her children Jenny and Adam - who Sue was a second mother to - as well as many, many friends.  In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother Stephen Dougherty.

 Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) where visitation will be held on Monday from 6-8pm.  A funeral service will be held from the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at 11am.  Interment will take place following the funeral in St. Andrews Rural Cemetery, St. Andrews NB.  For those who wish, memorial donations in Sue’s memory to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by her family.
