Stephen F. Gaudet

With very heavy hearts we announce that Steve has lost his battle with many health issues on August 23, 2017 at Bobby’s Hospice, with his wife Hazel by his side.  He courageously fought the cancer battle right till the very end, but his heart just lost its fight.  Steve is a huge loss to our family.  He was a loved but very private person.

He worked at the Saint John Dry Dock for 37 years as a Rigger Slinger; retiring when it closed in 1996.  He was a sports guy who loved his hockey in his younger years.  He was an active member of The Jolly Rogers Oldtimers, which was a big part of his life.  He bowled for many years and loved a game of horseshoes.  Steve was called “Hot Cue” for his pool shooting skills, but he had a hard time beating Frank at Dooley’s.  Over the years, he also enjoyed many Auction 45 games at various places.

Steve leaves behind his best friend and wife of 54 years ; Hazel (McGill) Gaudet, sons; Stevie Jr. (Tammy) and Johnny (Kellie), daughter Heather (Donnie), 6 grandchildren; Raven, Amanda, Bradley, Todd, Courtneay and Meaghan, 3 great-grandchildren; Raeshawn, Evan and Ava Grace, brother Robert “Bob” (Norma), sister-in-law Evelyn,  aunt Dolly, as well as several nieces, nephews and friends.  Along with his parents, Steve was predeceased by his brother Jack Gaudet and his mother and father-in-law Grace and Hugh McGill. 

A special thanks goes out to Jessica, Christina and Jill for their excellent care of Steve at Bobby’s Hospice.

Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) where visitation will be held on Sunday from 2-4 & 6-8pm.  A memorial service will be held from the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, August 28, 2017 at 11:00am, followed by a reception.  For those who wish, memorial donations may be made in Steve’s name to Bobby’s Hospice or to the charity of the donor’s choice.  To send a message of condolence, please visit www.fundyfuneralhome.com
