Shirley Louise (Silverberg) Lennan

Shirley Louise Lennan, loving wife of William “Bill” Lennan, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, September 10, 2017 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born on June 11, 1933 in Saint John, NB she was the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (Bly) Silverberg. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her sisters Anna Bleakney, Edna LaHay, Gladys King and Dorothy Hodd.

Shirley was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was a member of the Church of the Resurrection and the ACW; she enjoyed quilting with the Friendly Quilters, reading, knitting and baking in her early years. Gamma as she was known by her grandchildren will always be remembered for her oatmeal chocolate cakes.  She will be sadly missed and always remembered.

In addition to her husband of 63 years, William, she is survived by her daughter Ruth Tracy (Rex) of Fredericton; sons Mark Lennan (Catherine) of Halifax and John Lennan (Laureen) of Carters Point; cherished grandchildren Alicia (Cory),  Christina (Judson), Kayla (Clayton), Andrea (Marcus), Peter (Cheryl), Christopher and Justin; great grandchildren Sophia, Katrina, Carter and Stewart; several nieces and nephews.

Following cremation, a funeral service will be held from the Church of the Resurrection, 25 Macdonald Avenue, Grand Bay-Westfield, on Friday, September 15, 2017 at 11 a.m. reception to follow in church hall. Remembrances in memory of Shirley may be made to the Alzheimer Society, Canadian Mental Health or to the charity of the donor’s choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home.
