Schelly Dawne Chase

Surrounded by her loving family, the passing of Schelly Dawne Chase occurred after a courageous battle with Cancer on June 5, 2019 at the Saint John Regional Hospital.  Born October 7, 1968 in Saint John, NB, she was the daughter of David and Heather (Nice) Chase. 

Schelly graduated from Simonds High School in 1986, UNBSJ with her BSc in 1994, and the NBCC Saint John as a Medical Laboratory Technologist.  Following graduation she was employed for a short time with the Irving Refinery. Schelly work in the lab at the Calais Regional Hospital and St Joseph’s Hospital in Bangor.  In 2005 Schelly ventured to California to specialize in Microbiology at the Hollywood Presbyterian Hospital in Los Angeles.  She returned to Canada in 2014 to continue her work at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital in Sydney, NS. 

Schelly enjoyed movies, music and books and expressed herself through her canvas paintings.  She had a deep passion for dogs and horses.

Besides her parents she is survived by her brother Jeffery and his wife Gwen (Steeves), of Quispamsis, her niece Katelynn and nephew Curtis (Melissa), aunts; Sharon Chase, Deborah (Chase) Brine, Patricia Nice (James Michaelson) and her uncle Allan Edgett along with several cousins and numerous friends.  She was predeceased by her uncles Donald Nice, Bryce Brine and aunt Natalie (Nice) Edgett.

Following cremation the family will receive relatives and friends at the Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, on Sunday from 2:00 pm until 7:00 pm.  The Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, June 10, 2019 at 11:00 am from the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel.   Interment will take place at Greenwood Cemetery.  Remembrance made to the SPCA Animal Rescue League, the Saint John Regional Hospital Palliative Care Unit or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated.
