With heavy hearts, the family of Rose Thorne announces her passing, which occurred at the Church of St. John and St. Stephen Nursing Home, on Thursday, October 3, 2019. Rose was born in Cambridge Narrows on January 21, 1933; daughter of the late Murray and Effie (Coffill) Corcoran, and wife of the late Ashley V. Thorne. During her working years, Rose worked for T.S Simms, and AC Neilsen.
Rose is survived by her daughters Sherry Hyde (Jim), Catherine Thorne, and Debbie Cann (Jonathan), all of Saint John; sister Eileen Kincade of Cambridge Narrows, and in-laws, Cherry Thorne, Dwight and Nancy Thorne, Bonnie and Warren Ward of Australia, Louise Corcoran and Mary Corcoran, grandchildren Nathan, Erin, Liam, and Matthew. Along with her husband and parents, Rose was pre-deceased by her brothers Allison Corcoran, Ralph Corcoran (the late Lorna), Leslie Corcoran (the late Lilly), and Robert Corcoran, sisters Doris Johnson (the late Rex), and Blanche Haines (the late Carl), nephews Matthew Welton, Randy and John Corcoran, as well as nieces Mary Corcoran, and Lynn Johnson-Mason.
Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) with visitation on Wednesday from 2-8 p.m. The memorial service will be held from the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. For those who wish, remembrances to the Alzheimer’s Society, or the Church of St. John St. Stephen Nursing Home would be appreciated.
