Robert Anthony MacMurray

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Robert “Rob” Anthony MacMurray announce his peaceful passing at the Saint John Regional Hospital. After a brave, valiant and courageous 15 month journey, Rob left us on Monday, August 13th, 2018 at the age of 47. Born in Saint John, he was the son of Raymond and the late Marjorie (Deuville) MacMurray.

Rob is survived by the love of his life, Kim Elliott of Saint John, his father Raymond, several aunts, uncles and cousins and by countless loyal and dear friends.

It is difficult to speak of Rob in the past tense because he was so present in all of our lives. If you were befriended by Rob, you were family for life. He was a dedicated teacher, spending the majority of his career at Island View Elementary School where he left a lasting impression on his colleagues and students.

Rob lived his life the way he wanted, with compassion, respect and integrity. He taught everyone that there was always more than one way to view a situation and that all you ever needed to do was your best.

Although involved in many activities throughout his life, he enjoyed curling, playing hockey and being a player / manager for Little John’s Men’s Softball team. He also discovered a love for running, cycling and swimming.

He enjoyed vacations that included camping, concerts and visiting ballparks. He was a dedicated Toronto Maple Leafs fan, had a passion for antique cars, a love for country music classics and a zest for the simplicities of life.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Chris O’Brien, Dr. Julia Wildish and the nursing staff of the Saint John Regional Hospital Palliative Care Unit for their care and compassion shown towards Rob throughout his stay.

We invite family and friends to share memories and celebrate Rob’s life during visitation taking place at the Fundy Funeral Home on Thursday, August 16th between 6-8PM and Friday between 2-4 and 6-8PM. Come and join us on Wednesday, August 29th at Island View Elementary School’s Gymnasium as we Celebrate and pay tribute to Rob’s life. Please be present at 6PM.
