Robert Edward Baxter

July 5, 1931 ~ November 7, 2017 (age 86) 86 Years Old

Robert E. Baxter, husband of Edythe “Bingie” (Walton) Baxter, passed away peacefully on the early morning of Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John, NB on July 5, 1931 he was the son of the late Harry and Sophia (Moore) Baxter. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his brother Nelson Baxter; sister Phyllis Walker and infant sister Barbara Ann.

Bob worked in Sales and Merchandizing for many years; he started working for National Drug and worked for several other companies, retiring in 2002. He owned and operated sundries stores in Dalhousie and Fredericton, NB. He was a member of the United Commercial Travellers and was instrumental in starting the group in Charlottetown, PEI. He enjoyed music with his family, especially playing the accordion accompanied by his musical brothers. Bob and Bingie have been members of Holy Trinity Parish Hammond River for many years.

In addition to his loving and devoted wife of 62 years, Bingie, he is survived by his daughter Robyn Baxter (Stephen Smith) of Clifton Royal, NB ; sons Daniel Baxter (Sheila) of Edmonton, AB, Jeffrey Baxter (Diane) of Sherwood Park, AB and Roger Baxter of Calgary, AB; cherished grandchildren Jessica Baxter, Robbie Baxter, Alex Baxter and Eric Baxter; siblings Louise MacCollum (Ron) of Grand Bay-Westfield, Harry Baxter (Jean) of Riverview, Holly Baxter (Ernie) of Dartmouth, NS, John Baxter of Saint John and Winston Baxter (Hannaelore) of British Colombia; brother in law Edward Walker of Saint John; several nieces and nephews.

Following cremation, visitation will be held from Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral service will be held from Holy Trinity Church, Hammond River, 2 Hammond River Road, Quispamsis on Friday, November 10 at 11 a.m. followed by a reception in the church hall. Interment will take place in All Saints Anglican Church Cemetery, Clifton Royal, NB. Remembrances in memory of Bob may be made to the Alzheimer Society of New Brunswick or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
