Rita Marion (McMillan) O'Donnell

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Rita Marion (McMillan) O’Donnell announce her peaceful passing at the Saint John Regional Hospital on November 17, 2017.  She was born in Miscouche, PEI on September 30, 1949 to the late Joseph and Peggy (MacDonald) McMillan and was the loving wife to the late Joseph O’Donnell who passed away in August of 2016. 

Rita was a very involved grandmother.  She was opinionated and very forthcoming.  She had an open heart for everyone and her pride and joy were her grandchildren.  She devoted her life to her family,  baking for them, and being active in her grandchildren’s lives.  She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. 

She is survived by daughters; Joanne (Geoff) Thorne and Cathy (Brett) McMillan, grandchildren; Alicia (Ryan) Nason and Kyle Thorne, brother Grant (May) McMillan and brother-in-law Frank Gallant, sisters; Mary Grant, Jean (Wayne) St. Louis, Joan (John) Arnold, Gail (Kelly) MacLeod and Vicki McMillan, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.  Along with her husband Joe, she was predeceased by her parents and her brothers; Louis, George, Pat and Gary, and sister Judy. 

Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424).  In keeping with Rita’s wishes, no visitation will be held.  A celebration of her life will be held from the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at 12pm.  For those who wish, memorial donations in her memory made to Bobby’s Hospice or to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by her family.
