Rita Shirley Hennessy

With heavy hearts, the family of Rita Hennessy announces her passing, which occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital, on October 2nd, 2019. Rita was born in River Glade on February 27, 1938; a daughter of the late William and Helen (Lutz) Russell, and the loving wife of the late James Hartford Hennessy, who predeceased her on November 10th, 2018.  Rita worked for Appleby Colour Labs, as well as D&J Motors.

Rita is survived by her daughters Jocelyn (Robbie), Jennifer (Henry) and Jacqueline; son James (Kim); loving grandchildren Jessica, Elizabeth, Jacob, Tina, Chris (Kim) and Jason; great-grandchildren Zachary, Ashden, Cody, Hayden and Alissah; sister Miriam (Bill); brothers-in-law Frank (Rachel) and Lloyd; sister-in-law Anne (Harrison); cousins, nieces and nephews.

Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) with visitation on Sunday from 2-8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from Holy Redeemer Parish (formerly St. Pius X Church), 316 Somerset Street on Monday, October 7th at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to the Saint John Regional Hospital’s Palliative Care or Dialysis Units would be appreciated by the family.
