It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Rev. Albert Donald Moore, beloved husband of Florence (Blom) Moore, on Saturday, September 15, 2018. Born on September 12, 1927 in Saint John, he was the son of the late Albert G. and Lillian (Hamm) Moore.
Don is survived by his wife of 69 years, Florence, son Ken (Trena), daughter Sylvia, grandchildren Greg Moore (Tanya Kinney), Kelley Andrea (Dave) and Kilby Vaters; great-grandchildren Talia and Ayla Andrea, sisters Colleen Beesley and Rosalie (Russ) Pease. He was predeceased by his parents, Albert G. and Lillian Moore, brother Robert Moore and sister Audrey Beesley Boore.
After attending Zion Bible College, Don worked with his father in their grocery store in West Saint John, A. G. Moore & Son. In 1958, he moved to Yarmouth NS, to pastor Evangel Assembly, then in 1963 he accepted the pastorate of Bethel Pentecostal Assembly in Campbellton, NB. He returned to Saint John in 1968 to pastor Bethany Pentecostal Church, during which time the church facility, now home to North Side Assembly, was constructed.
Don was elected District Superintendent of the Maritime District of The Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada in 1974, a position he held until his retirement in 1988. During his tenure as District Superintendent, he served on various national committees of The Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada, including the General Executive, and on the Board of Governors of Eastern Pentecostal Bible College (currently Master’s College & Seminary). He held credentials with The Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada for 60 years.
Don was a kind and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who always made time for his family. He had a generous heart, was an encourager, was faithful to his God and always true to his convictions. He will be greatly missed.
The family expresses special thanks to Dr. Leslie Allaby for his excellent care of Don over the past number of years, and to the staff of the Transitional Care Unit of the Saint John Regional Hospital.
