Phyllis Mae Peterson

It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Phyllis Mae (Thomas) Peterson which occurred on Wednesday September 28, 2016 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born July 20, 1934 in Saint John, she was the daughter of the late Phillip and Jenny (Blade) Thomas. Phyllis was a homebody and enjoyed reading and spending time with her furry friend “Maggie”. She loved to plant flowers and would display them with a variety of decorated lawn lights. Phyllis will be remembered by her surviving family, Walter F. Peterson; her children  Walter “Buddy” (Kathy) Peterson, Wanda (Henry) Burbridge, Dianne LeBlanc and Norma-Jean Ahmadi; grandchildren Kate (Justin) Power, Mark (Wyomia) Burbridge, Shawn (Beth) Peterson, Ryan Peterson, Jonathan LeBlanc, Danielle LeBlanc, Samantha Ahmadi and Joey Ahmadi; great-grandchildren Makenzie, Ben, Sam, Mark, Latoya, Julia and Alexander;  sister Shirley Wright; brother-in-law Donnie Durley; sister-in-law Emma Thomas; several cousins, nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her son Scott Peterson, great-granddaughter Abbygail Peterson, brothers John “Jackie” Thomas, William “Bill” Thomas and George Thomas; sisters Viola Durley and Mary Marr. Phyllis’ family wishes to express their gratitude to the Palliative Care Unit, SJRH for their excellent care and compassion.

Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). The family will receive visitors on Friday September 30, 2016 from 3-4 pm., followed by a memorial service in the Chapel at 4 pm. The family would appreciate donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the charity of one’s choice.
