Pauline (Metcalf) Johnson

With heavy hearts the family of Pauline (Metcalf) Johnson announce her peaceful passing at the Saint John Regional Hospital surrounded by her loving family on October 9, 2019.  Pauline was born on October 30, 1941 in Newcastle, England to the late Eliza Williams and was the loving wife to her late husband Stanley Johnson.

Pauline and Stan moved to Saint John from the UK in 1982. She was a homemaker who spent her time committed to her family, working hard to create a beautiful life for them. She loved being surrounded by great friends, whether it be the great parties they held, or the holiday family get togethers - Pauline and Stan were excellent hosts and truly cared about everyone in their lives.  After her children were grown, she and Stan travelled the world on the ships that he worked on.  She was an English woman and loved to make her traditional English foods – meat pies, sausage rolls, and pasties - always spoiling her family with her great cooking skills. She was kind, generous and devoted to her family.  She was a wonderful Nanny to her many grandchildren and she loved them with everything she had. She will be forever missed by her family and everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.

She is survived by her sons, Paul (Debbie), Stanley, Colin (Debbie) and Victor (Joanne); daughter Sharon (Jimmy); grandchildren, Christopher, Amy, Courtney, Corey, Andrew, Stephanie and Sara; great grandchildren, Destiny, Mia, Jaxon, John Ryan and Willow; twin sister Esther (Larry) Whale, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. 

Along with her mother and husband, Pauline was predeceased by her sister Sylvia and her brother Raymond.

Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Rd., Saint John, NB (646-2424).  In keeping with Pauline’s wishes, cremation will take place, and visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4-7 pm.  A Celebration of Her Life will take place on Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at 11am from the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel.  For those who wish, memorial donations made in Pauline’s memory made to Bobby’s Hospice in Saint John or to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
