It is with profound sadness that Monica Brown’s family announces her passing, which occurred in the early morning of October 5th, 2019. Monica was born in Saint John on August 16, 1960; she was the daughter of the late John Pasch and Else (Gietmann) Pasch.
Monica is survived by her loving husband of 37 years Malcolm Brown of St. Martins, her three children, Corey (Ellen) of Brown’s Flat, Erica Hall (Matthew) of Musquash, and Christopher of St. Martins. In addition to her parents, Monica was predeceased by her infant daughter, Christine Ann Brown, and her in-laws Robert Brown and Kathleen (Stevens) Brown.
Monica was happiest when spending time with her four adoring grandchildren: Olivia, Easton, Aylee, and William. She could often be found shopping or baking in the kitchen with Olivia, or spending time outdoors and laughing with William. Many special moments were spent between Easton and his Nana snuggling with “the white blanket” in her La-Z-Boy, or picking up bottles on the side of the road. During Monica’s final weeks, she was able to take a fun-filled trip with Aylee to Toronto to visit the Zoo and Aquarium where many great memories were made.
When not spending time with her grandchildren, Monica loved to travel with Malcolm. She took great joy in the relaxation of a week spent on white sandy beaches near clear blue water, or cruising the Caribbean with their closest friends. Throughout her life, Monica had several opportunities to travel overseas and to be with family in Germany; these trips were very meaningful to her.
A special thank you to Monica’s closest friends Kathy Barton, Rhonda Estey, Kim Kelly, and Nancy Petersen, with whom she shared many memorable years.
In addition, we would like to thank Dr. Michael and Dr. Naz of the Oncology department at the Saint John Regional Hospital- their compassion and excellence in care were a great comfort to our family.
Despite the uphill battle Monica was faced with, she was a true fighter and wore a smile every step of the way. She will be dearly missed.
