Michael Cullinan

Michael Clifford Cullinan passed away peacefully on Nov.7, 2018 by MAID. He was surrounded by his family at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Mike was born Dec 12, 1945 to the late Esther (Sharpe) and Joseph Cullinan. He grew up on the West Side of Saint John and attended St. Patrick’s School and Saint John Vocational School.

Much of Mike’s adult life was spent in Ladner B.C. working at various jobs while studying part time university courses in economics. Mike had a wonderful passion for knowledge. He took great pleasure in a lively conversation or debate on any topic be it history, politics or world issues. Mike enjoyed his extensive collection of varied books and classical music and was a frequent patron of the Saint John Regional Library.

For many years after a debilitating stroke in 2000, Mike would make regular outings to the Aquatic Center, pushing his walker to and from his home at 20 Horsfield St., summer and winter. He worked diligently at keeping a sharp mind by following world issues and completing several crossword puzzles daily.

Mike leaves behind a daughter Jennifer of B.C., his brothers Joseph, Brian (Paula) of Saint John, Hugh (Peggy) of Delta and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and brother Paul.

Sincere thanks to the staff and doctors of the Saint John St. Stephen nursing home for providing Mike with such passionate care over his last few years, your kindness is truly appreciated. Thanks also to the MAID team and nursing staff 0f 5CN, Saint John Regional Hospital for making Mike’s wishes possible.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424).

A graveside service will be held at the Holy Cross Cemetery on 1215 Sand Cove Road, Wednesday, November 14th, 2018 at 1pm.In keeping with Mike’s wishes, donations to Romero House would be appreciated.
