Mercy Esinam Darku

It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Mercy Esinam Darku, which occurred unexpectedly on Tuesday May 3, 2011. Born 1978 in Ghana she was the daughter of Clement and Monica (Yawson) Darku. Mercy was a graduate of Simonds High School and then attended Compu College. She had a big heart and loved to socialize, cook and dance. Besides her parents, she is survived by her partner Tony Smith; children Desmond Bowser Darku, Elijah Anthony Smith Darku, Malachi Anthony Smith Darku and Josiah Darku all of Saint John; brothers Martin Darku and Emmanuel Darku of Yellowknife; sisters Stacy Darku of Saint John and Jennifer Grant of Yellowknife; cousin Sam Otoo of Saint John.

Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road. Saint John (646-2424) with visitation on Friday May 6, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held at Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday May 7, 2011 at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in Fernhill Cemetery.
