Welcome to the memorial page for

Melinda Marie Genevieve (Savoie) McGrath

January 1, 1927 ~ September 28, 2016 (age 89) 89 Years Old

Melinda Marie Geneviève McGrath (Savoie) 89, passed with peace and grace at the Loch Lomond Villa, Elm House on Wednesday, September 28, with her loving family by her side. Melinda was a kind, caring and wonderful Mother and Grandmother that was loved, is missed, and will always be cherished.

She is survived by her children Wayne (Chris) of Rothesay, Kevin (Debbie) of Upper Golden Grove, Judy Grant (Stan) and Michael of Saint John; brothers Raymond (Colleen), Leandre (late Leonida) and Fred (Sandra); six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Stanley McGrath in 2013, brothers Irvin, Emery, Lutien and sister Irene.

Melinda was born in Neguac, NB to the late Dorin and Clara Savoie. In her late teens, she moved to Saint John taking a job at the TB Hospital. After marrying Stan, she remained at home raising her children. Melinda loved tending to her flower and vegetable gardens and enjoyed many summers at their camp with family and friends. She was a great cook and was master at preserving vegetables from her garden. She was a member of St. Francois de Sales. As she was an avid card player, her children’s daily visits to Elm House always included a game of 45’s with her and friend Pat Mason and she always looked forward to her Saturday Lobster Rolls.

A very special thank you is extended to the caring and supportive staff of Birch and Elm House, Loch Lomond Villa for the much love and excellent care provided to our Mother. Please know that she loved you back!
