Mary Eleanor Arsenault

It is with appreciation of a life well-lived and gratitude for many years of memories, that the family of Mary Eleanor Arsenault, loving wife of the late John W. Arsenault, announce her passing which occurred on Thursday, January 9, 2020 at Shannex Tucker Hall. Born on February 9, 1915 in Jacquet River, NB, she was the daughter of the late John David and Ethel Goodine.

Mary lived her life as a very caring, loving and generous person for 104 years. She was devoted to her family of six children and several grandchildren. Mary moved to Saint John in the 1950’s to be close to family. After her husband’s passing in 1965 she moved between family in Saint John to help out with the grandchildren. In 1978 she moved to Brampton, Ontario where she lived independently until her 100th birthday. In 2015, Mary returned to Saint John where she was cared for by her family until moving to the Shannex in 2017.

Mary will be missed by her children: Luella London, Charlotte King, Ida Downey and Inez LaPointe. She will always be remembered by her numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents and husband, Mary was predeceased by her son Leonard Arsenault and daughter Veronica Dempsey along with 5 brothers and 1 sister.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at the Shannex who made her last two years very comfortable.

Resting at the Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation hours being held on Friday, January 17, 2020 between 2-6 PM. Funeral Liturgy to be held on Saturday, January 18th at 10:00 AM from the Fundy Chapel. Interment to follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
