Margaret "Betty" Elizabeth Elward

The family of Margaret Elizabeth “Betty” Elward, loving wife of the late Morris F. Elward announces her passing which occurred on Monday, October 10th 2016 at the Loch Lomond Village. She was born on July 28, 1931 to the late David and Margaret (Stackhouse) Akerley.

Earlier in life, Betty attended East Saint John School and graduated from Saint John High School later attending Teachers College during 1958-1959 in Fredericton, NB and UNBSJ. Betty spent 27 years teaching students, primarily at Hazen White St. Francis.  She was a volunteer at the Loch Lomond Villa, a member of All Saint Church and secretary of Franklin & Herschorn Theatre.  She also volunteered with Girl Guides and Saint John Trefoil Guild.

Betty is survived by her children; David M. (Michelle) Elward and Susan (James) Cole. Five grandchildren; Chelsea, David, Michael, Jamie and Christina, three great-grandchildren; Landon, Colton and Kolby   

In addition to her parents, Betty is predeceased by her loving husband Morris F. and brother, Malcom Akerley.   

Our family would like to say thank you to the Loch Lomond Village for the care and support provided to our Mom during the last part of her life.

Betty will be resting at the Fundy Funeral Home (646-2424) with visitation hours being held on Thursday, October 13th 2016 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm.

Funeral Service will be held on Friday, October 14th 2016 at 12:00 PM.

Interment to follow at Ocean View Memorial Gardens.

Memorial donations may be placed towards the Loch Lomond Villa Foundation, Alzheimer Society or a charity of your choice.
