Margaret L. Parfitt

It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Margaret Laura (Lackie) Parfitt which occurred at Shannex, Tucker Hall on Sunday, November 27th, 2016.  Born 1935, in Smithtown, NB, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Edith (Baskin) Lackie.  Margaret worked for Keystone Printing for many years.  She was an active member of Edith Avenue Baptist Church and she loved her Lord Jesus. In her earlier years, Margaret was a Sunday School Teacher and she loved to sing in the church choir.  She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and reading.  Margaret was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.  Most of all, she cherished every moment spent with her family. 

Margaret is survived by her son Douglas (Charlene) of Saint John; daughters Judith Ann McAdam (Kim) of Saint John, Lori Buckley (Kevin) of Saint John; Wendy Johnston (Brian) of Saint John; grandchildren Matthew, Laura, Luke, Kelly, Crystal, Celina, Robert, Shane; great grandchildren Jaden, Jenna, Anthony, Ava and Alyssa; daughter-in-law Tina Parfitt; as well as several nieces, nephews and friends.  Besides her parents, Margaret was predeceased by her husband Cyril Parfitt, son John Parfitt, brothers Herbert, Harvey, Donald Lackie and sisters Elizabeth McGrath and Pauline Todd.

The family would like to take this opportunity to thank all of Margaret’s caregivers for their kindness and compassion.  A special thank you to Wilhelmina for treating our mother as if she were your own, Heather for your friendship and spiritual nourishment, and Tanya and Sharon for your loving support.   

Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation being held on Tuesday, November 29th from 4 to 8 p.m.  A Funeral Service will take place from the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, November 30th at 1 p.m. followed by an interment at Ocean View Memorial Gardens.  Donations in memory of Margaret may be made to the Huntington Society, the Arthritis Society, or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
