Margaret Hatt Obituary

Margaret Ella (Adamson) Hatt, loving wife of Robert Harvey Hatt, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Mill Cove, NB on October 2, 1942 she was the daughter of the late Theodore and Mona (Ferris) Adamson. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her brother and sister-in-law Wallace and Anna Adamson.

Margaret grew up attending a one room school house with her siblings in Mill Cove. In her adult life she worked in grocery stores in various positions. She was a foster parent and babysitter for many children. Margaret, along with being a family person thrived on being organized, she enjoyed flower gardening and travelling to New Hampshire and Florida with her husband Robert. She adored dogs and cats and feeding the squirrels and birds.

Besides her loving and devoted husband of 57 years, Robert, she is survived by her children Kenneth Hatt of Edmonton, AB, Tim Hatt (Debbie) of Quispamsis, Heather Duffley (Robert) of Rothesay and Christina Long (Gary) of Sussex Corner; grandchildren Christopher Hatt (Kristen), Amelia Webster (Evan), Breanne Long, Luke Duffley, Kevin Hatt, Leah Glasgow (Kenzie), Erica Cripps (Jordan), Colby Long (Cyan), James Duffley and Jared Long; great grandchildren Carter, Charlie, Kandace and Kacy Hatt and Toby Cripps; brothers Everett “Buddy” Adamson (Doreen) and Robert Adamson both of Mill Cove; sisters Anna Wilkinson (Karl) of Maugerville, Linda Ferris (Calvin) of Fredericton and Janet Hovey (Alfie) of Mill Cove; aunt Cora Vincent; and many thoughtful nieces, nephews, neighbours and friends. 

The family would like to extend deep gratitude to extended family, Doctors, Extra Mural Nurses and Palliative Care Unit at the Saint John Regional Hospital who compassionately cared for Margaret over these many years.

Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) with visitation on Wednesday, November 6 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm. Her funeral service will be held from Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, November 7 at 2 pm. Interment will take place at The Narrows Baptist Cemetery at a later date. Remembrances in memory of Margaret may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
