Lloyd Halpin Obituary

It is with great sadness the family announces the sudden passing of Lloyd Gordon Halpin which occurred at Princess Beach Road on Monday, December 10th, 2018. Born in Saint John, a baby boomer in 1953, he was the son of the late Gordon and Joan (Young) Halpin. Lloyd was the founding owner of L. Halpin Excavating, a commercial and residential construction company he lead for more than 30 years. Known by many as a motivated, self-starter, playful, kind man who owned early mornings and had the warmest eyes and smile. In his downtime he enjoyed stock car racing, boating and fishing without catching much. Lloyd loved spending time at his cottage on the river, exploring the U.S. and Canadian snowmobile trails with close friends. He was a voracious reader yet a terrible dancer. Business and family were his proudest moments lived.

Lloyd is survived by his loving, devoted best friend, Martha of 33 years; sons Michael Halpin (Angela) of Sussex, Steve Halpin (Chelsey) of Rothesay; daughters Brittany Kitchen (Jeff) of Rothesay, Rachel Halpin (Gerard) of Edmonton; brothers Robert Hodgson (Gabby) of Edmundston, Peter Halpin (Amy) of Quispamsis, Robbie Halpin (Laura) of Saint John; sisters Jacqueline Halpin of Vancouver, Angela Haggerty of Saint John; grandson Clark Kitchen; as well as several nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to his parents, Lloyd was predeceased by his mother and father-in-law Bill and Alberta Martin, whom he cherished and whom they referred to as their “favorite son-in-law”.

Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation being held on Friday, December 14th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.  A Funeral Service will take place from the Fundy Funeral Home chapel on Saturday, December 15th at 9:30 a.m. followed by an interment at Fernhill Cemetery. Donations in memory of Lloyd may be made to the Children’s Wish Foundation.
