Lawrence M. Kay, loving husband of the late Margaret Jean (Whelpley) Kay, passed away on Monday, August 13, 2018 at his residence. Born in Saint John, NB on April 16, 1933 he was the son of the late Gordon and Elizabeth (Walker) Kay. In addition to his parents and wife he was predeceased by his sons Danny and Gary; son-in-law Brian Gould; grandsons Michael and Kirk Gould; daughter-in-law Cathy Barrett-Kay; brother Walter Kay and sister Bertha MacMackin.
Larry worked as a foreman for the Irving Pulp and Paper for 37 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
He is survived by his children Brenda Harris (David), Kenneth Kay (Debbie), Debbie Haley (Tom Robinson), Linda Gould, Kevin Kay (Debbie), Dwayne Kay (Shelley), David Kay (Sharon) and Thomas Kay (Leanne); many grandchildren and great grandchildren; best friend Maff; canine companion Buddy; several nieces and nephews.
Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) on Tuesday, August 14 from 4 to 8 p.m. The funeral service will be held from Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at 3 p.m. Interment will take follow in Fernhill Cemetery. Remembrances in memory of Larry may be made to the SPCA Animal Rescue, IWK Foundation or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
