Kari Christensen Obituary

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Kari Sophia (Mothes) Christensen which occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Saturday, January 5th, 2019. Born 1931, in Essen, Germany, she was the daughter of the late Johannes and Anne Elisabeth (Wehn) Mothes. Kari worked in the food service industry for several years before retiring in 1991. She enjoyed needle work, crocheting, knitting as well as cooking.

Kari is survived by her daughter Tone Cecillia DeJong (Leon) of Africa; sons Kai Martin (Chantal) of Gatineau, QC, Alan Christopher (Elizabeth) of BC, Thomas Richard (Laurie) of Saint John, Eric Scott of Ottawa; brother Christian Mothes (Thora) of Norway; sister Elisa Cramer of Norway; sister-in-law Gail Wehn of Norway; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. Besides her parents, Kari was predeceased by her husband Anders Christian Christensen, brother Dag Wehn and grandson Noel DeJong.

Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). As per Kari’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. A private family interment will take place at a later date. Donations in memory of Kari may be made to Bobby’s Hospice or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
