It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joseph Robert “Bob” Cormier on March 12, 2019 at the Saint John Regional Hospital with his loving family by his side. He was born in Bouctouche Bay, NB on November 25, 1947 to the late Oliver and Helen (Babineau) Cormier and was the loving husband to his late wife, Dawn Marie (Barry) Cormier.
Bob was a Boilermaker by trade working at the Saint John Dry Dock until its closing, at which time he continued working in the construction field. He loved to bowl and play Bingo. He was an avid collector of anything that peaked his interest, and was always trying to scratch his way to a big win in the lottery. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be sadly missed.
He is survived by his two daughters; Mary Lou Cormier (Shawn Adams) and Carla Cormier (Neil Welch), his special granddaughter Erika Dawn Cormier-Welch, sisters; Aline Neville, Emma Maidment, Annette Lirette, Cecile LeBlanc, Claira Johnson, Emily Allain and half-sister Alida Cormier, special friend Sharon Byrne and special bud Ryan Byrne, along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In addition to his parents and spouse, he was predeceased by his sisters Yvonne, Dora and Mary, brothers; Frank, Augustine and George, along with his godson, Devan Paul.
Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) where visitation will be held on Thursday and Friday from 2-4 and 6-8pm. A funeral service will be held from the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at 11am. Interment will be held in St. Joseph’s Cemetery at a later date. For those who wish, memorial donations made in Bob’s name Canadian Diabetes Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society or to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by his family.
