John "Jack" R. R. Ferris

It is with deep sadness to announce the passing of our loving husband and father, Jack on November 30th, 2019 with his family by his side.

Jack leaves behind his loving and devoted wife of 65 years, Doris (Landry), his children, Sheila Marcotte, Annapolis Valley, NS, Alan (Kelly), Rothesay, NB, and Melissa, Saint John, NB.  Brother, Willard Cawley and sisters, Marjorie Brown, Shirley Cawley and Eva Byers.  Grandchildren, Sean Vincent (Shannon), Mahone Bay, NS, Dylan, Calgary, AB and Christian, Dartmouth, NS.  Great grandchildren, Kennedi and Kale Vincent, NS.  Jack was predeceased by his sons Michael and Bobo (John Ferris).

Dad spent many hours fishing at his favourite fishing holes.  If fishing could have been his job instead of a sport, he would have excelled at it.  In his younger years, Dad liked to bowl, play baseball, darts and horseshoes.  A natural story teller, Dad liked making people laugh and everyone knew at any given time he would have a good story to share.  Dad always danced to the beat of his own drum and it was well known that he and mom were a couple who knew how to cut a rug.

Jack started working at the Saint John Dry Dock when he was 15, by adding two years to his age so that he could be hired.  He stayed at the Dry Dock until the mid 70's when he decided he wanted to become a pipefitter.  He studied hard, received his red seal, and was a journeyman within no time at all.  One of his proudest moments.  He was a life member of 54 years with Local 213, Plumbers and Pipefitters.

We will miss you very much Dad, you really were one of a kind.

Following cremation visitation will be held at the Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424), on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm.  The funeral service will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, December 6, 2019 at the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel.  Remembrances made to CARMA (Cat Rescue Maritimes) – Saint John Chapter would be appreciated.
