Jean Marion (Fudge) Coates-Fennell

It is with sadness but appreciation for a long life, well-lived, the family of Jean Marion (Fudge) Coates-Fennell announce her peaceful passing on September 18, 2019 at Shannex Embassy Hall.  Jean was born in Saint John, N.B. on February 28, 1923 to the late William and Grace (Love) Fudge and was the loving wife to her late husbands. Gordon Coates, Sr. and Don Fennell. 

Jean was a very gentle woman who loved her family very much and was well loved by them in return.  She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for over 50 years, taking on the role of Past Matron.  She was also the Past Queen for the Daughters of the Nile, Nereides Temple #78 and felt a great amount of pride in being part of these organizations.   Jean will be fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her. 

She will be deeply missed by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren; brother James Fudge (Joyce), sister Eleanor Sowery, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. 

In addition to her parents and husbands, she was predeceased by her son Edward Allbright; stepsons, Gordon and Robert Coates; brothers Don and Russell Fudge, as well as sister Ruth Fudge. 

Her family would like to extend special thanks to her neighbours, Suzanne and Maurice Devost and Joanne and Joe Burke for the compassion and assistance provided to help keep Jean in her own home for so many years.  And to the nursing staff of Embassy and Concorde Halls, your kindness and loving care given to Jean in her time with you will never be forgotten. 

Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) where visitation will be held on Monday, September 23, 2019 from 10 to 11am.   A funeral service will immediately follow in the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel at 11am with interment taking place in Fernhill Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Jean’s memory made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick or to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by her family.
