Harold Joseph Stevens

August 25, 1922 ~ June 1, 2017 (age 94) 94 Years Old

Harold J. Stevens.  Born in Truro, Nova Scotia on August 25th, 1922.  The son of the late Frank and Elizabeth (Pendergast) Stevens.  Harold was a veteran of World War II, serving in North Africa, Italy, France and Germany, with the 8th Princess Louise’s Hussars.  He was a past Grand Master of the St. Martins Masonic Lodge and an active member of the U.A. of Journeymen and Apprentices of Plumbers and Pipefitters. 

Predeceased by his first wife Estella (Knowlton) Stevens and predeceased by his second wife Viola (Connolly) Stevens.  Survived by daughters; Karen Ring (Ron) and Gail Fewer (Martin) and son; Richard (Susan) Stevens, six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter along with two sisters-in-law, Joan Ryan and Doris Casey as well as several nieces and nephews.

Harold was a plumber by trade, beginning his career with Harold Peer Plumbing Ltd before starting his own business, Harold Stevens Plumbing and Heating.  He then established Stevens Septic Tank Service in 1964.  From 1974 to 1980 Harold finished his career as a Pipefitter, working on several major projects, such as Coleson Cove, Point Lepreau, the Saint John Regional Hospital, and the Sussex Potash Mine.  Throughout his life, Harold built and owned several apartment buildings as well. 

Harold was an avid boater, swimmer and an exceptional softball player in the CNR League, before and after WWII, playing for the Brookville Hawks.  He enjoyed a good card game of 45’s or crib and looked forward to ‘happy hour’ at 3:00pm.  A life well lived. 

Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation on Tuesday, June 6th, 2017 from 2pm - 7:45pm.  A funeral service will be held in the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, June 7th, 2017 at 11am followed by a reception.  For those who wish, remembrances to the charity of one’s choice would be appreciated.  To sign the guestbook or place an online condolence, please visit www.fundyfuneralhome.com
