Gregory Celestine McAuliffe

Peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Gregory Celestine McAuliffe, devoted husband of Ethel McAuliffe of 54 years was called home to be with his Lord and Saviour, in his 86th year on Friday, March 22, 2019. He was the son of the late John L. and Blanid C. (Sharkey) McAuliffe.

Greg graduated from the Welding Program at Moncton New Brunswick Community College where he became a highly skilled tradesman working throughout the United States, Ocean Steele and the Saint John Dry Dock where he retired after 40 years.  In his younger years, Greg excelled in Judo, achieving his brown belt.

Greg lived his life as a very caring, loving and generous person. He was devoted to his family, friends and would always lend a hand to those in need. Greg was a proud member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed working in the garage where he found his true talent and artistic flare. He excelled in sketching, folk art, making furniture, wood carvings and working with his hands.

Along with his loving wife Ethel, he is also survived by his children Joseph Andrew McAuliffe and Susan Marie McAuliffe. Greg is also survived by his brother Mark (Mary) McAuliffe and sisters; Mary Louise Kerr and Jane Carol (Gordon) Shaw.

In addition to his parents, Gregory is predeceased by his siblings; John, Rosemary Milan, Patricia Jensen, David and Gerry.

Greg will be resting at the Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation hours being held on Monday, March 25, 2019 between the hours 2-4 and 6-8 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, March 26th at 11 AM from St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.  Interment to follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
