It is with heavy hearts that the family of Gladys Bonin announces her passing on Saturday November 30, 2019 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Pondville, Cape Breton on November 4, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Anne (Wiggle) Luce.
Gladys enjoyed spending time with her family and making sure they were always well fed; she was a master at boiled icing for her cakes. She loved to talk on the phone, always checking up on everyone especially her grandchildren, to make sure they were doing well. She loved playing cards and Yahtzee with her grandchildren, doing crosswords and knitting. She also enjoyed listening to music and made sure her pet bird got his fill of Newfie music. What her family will always remember is how she loved them unconditionally, always doting on her siblings like a mother hen. She touched so many people on her journey and she will forever be missed by all.
She will be greatly missed by her loving partner Stan Kirkpatrick; her sons Mike Bonin (Leanne) and Greg Bonin (Melissa) both of Saint John; her siblings Theresa Cochrane (Alvin) of Windsor, NS, Tilley Lerette (Chet) of Greenwood, NS, Anne Gaidamasciuk (Dennis) of Saint John, Cleatus Luce (Brenda) of Fredericton; her grandchildren Mitchell, Kurtis, Maddison, Josh, Keenan, Destiny and Landen; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Gladys was predeceased by her husband Ted Bonin; brother Eddie Luce and sister-in-law Joan Luce.
Following cremation, visitation will be held at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road on Wednesday December 4, 2019 from 4-8 p.m. Donations in her memory may be made to the Lung Association.
