George A. Whittaker

It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of George Allan Whittaker which occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Sunday, May 20th, 2018.  Born 1949, in Saint John, he was the son of the late Kenneth and Winifred (Hulme) Whittaker.  George worked as a Ferry Operator.  He enjoyed working in the woods and he loved antique cars. 

George is survived by his loving and devoted wife Janet (Hooper) of 48 years; son Gary (Lori) of Norton; daughters Debbie Magee (Dwayne) and Annette Grant (Malcolm) of Saint John; grandchildren Danny, Adam, Michael, Jimmy, Brian, Bradley, Arron, Amanda, Doug, John, Chris, Curtis, Nathan, Ashley, Jocelyn; many great-grandchildren; his dog Nikki; as well as several nieces, nephews and friends.  Besides his parents, George was predeceased by his son Robert, brothers Kenneth, Walter, Freddy, Gordon and sisters Agnes and Shirley.  George was the last surviving member of his immediate family. 

Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation being held on Wednesday, May 23rd from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.  A Funeral Service will take place from the Fundy Funeral chapel on Thursday, May 24th at 10 a.m. followed by an interment at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.   Donations in memory of George may be made to the Diabetes Association, Heart & Stroke Foundation or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
