It is with sadness the family announces the passing of Mr. George Arthur Kyffin, loving husband of 55 ½ years to Carol (Gilchrist) Kyffin, which occurred on Saturday, June 23rd 2018. He was born May 7, 1940 to the late Charles Cedric and Myrtle (Morrissey) Kyffin.
George worked for the Saint John Ship Yard for over 40 years, where he made many lifelong friends along the way. He was a second degree black belt and became a Karate instructor. Active throughout his entire life, George loved to ski, swim, scuba dive, kayak and walk. He coached Little League Baseball for numerous years and was also a part of the “Over Fifty” Softball League. George was a kind-hearted, down to earth gentleman who was devoted to his faith and being with his family and friends, they will always cherish the times spent with George strumming his guitar and playing the harmonica and singing along to prime country music. He will always be remembered as a bit of a jokester who loved a good laugh!
George is survived by his cherished wife Carol, he is survived by his children; Wayne (Andrea) of Saint John, David of Quispamsis and Keena (Blake) Hudson of Saint John. George is also survived by his 4 sisters; Eileen (Ralph) Magee, Rachel (Robert) Hopper, Suzanne Theriault, Patricia Tilley (Steve) and brother in-law Murray. He will be forever missed by his 4 grandchildren; Dakota, Curtis, Katelyn and Eric and great granddaughter Rayna, also canine companions Benjie and Jake.
In addition to his parents, George is predeceased by his sisters Karen Blanchard, Marjorie Gilchrist and Phyllis Gilchrist, brother Blair, brother-in-law Ronald Gilchrist and Richard Theriault and nephew Jody Blanchard.
George will be resting at the Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with a funeral service taking place on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 2:00 PM from the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel.
Memorial donations in memory of George towards the Canadian Cancer Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation or Alzheimer's Society would be appreciated by the family.
