Fred Simpson

- It is with sadness the family of Frederick “Fred” Kenneth Simpson announces his passing that occurred on Friday August 3, 2018 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born 1928 in Barnesville, NB, he was the son of the late Kenneth and Ethel (Curry) Simpson. Fred was a 1944 graduate of SJHS. He joined the North NS Regiment as a reservist from 1950-1953 and then the 12th field Regiment from 1953-1961 as a clerk. He was a member of the RCL Branch #58. Over the years he worked at Dorchester Penitentiary, then as a travelling salesman, for the Bricklin Auto Plant in payroll and finished his career at Campbell’s Plumbing. He spent 22 years of his retirement in Florida as a snowbird and the last 3 years here in Saint John enjoying bingo and social gatherings at the Legion Court. He is survived by his daughters Evenna (Kathy) Simpson of Regina and Valerie Simpson of Toronto; step-children Dennis (Linda) of Dartmouth, John (Janet) of Toronto, Christine of Porter’s Lake and Brian (Michelle) Eisan of Quispamsis; sister Lois McAdam of Hampton; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; niece Lynne (Michael) Hanlon of Barnesville and nephew David (Shirley) McAdam of Saint John. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his 1st wife Doris (Tweedie) and 2nd wife Joan (Hayden). Special thanks to Julia and Beth from Bayshore Home Health.

Following cremation visitation will be held at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road on Thursday August 9, 2018 from 5-8 p.m. with a Tribute to a Veteran’s Service to begin at 7 p.m. A Celebration of Fred’s Life will be held at St. Barnabos Anglican Church, Barnesville on Friday August 10, 2018 at 11 a.m. Interment to follow in the adjoining cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
