Emily Iona (Hart) Lawlor

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Emily Iona (Hart) Lawlor on June 12, 2018, surrounded by her loving family in Palliative Care at the Saint John Regional Hospital.  She was born on April 1, 1942 in Debert, NS to the late Harold and Rhoda (McCall) Hart and was the loving wife for 57 years to her husband Bruce who passed away in January of 2017.

Emily worked with the Saint John Airport Authority as both a waitress in the restaurant and doing office work for over 18 years.  She was a very sweet woman, who liked to try her hand at everything.  She loved to fish and go camping when her children were younger, she liked to knit and crochet them clothing, she liked to dance and sing and really enjoyed listening to her country music.  She enjoyed taking long drives and watching curling and baseball.  Emily loved her family dinners because family was her everything.  All those who were privileged to meet her, will greatly miss this wonderful lady, who carried on with a quiet grace, and was taken from them much too soon. 

She is survived by her son David (Cathy) Lawlor, 2 daughters; Phyllis (Todd) Morrell and Patricia (Bruce Conway) Kyle, seven grandchildren; Jason, Sara, Laura, Erin, Carolyn and Christian, and Justin, six great-grandchildren; Mackenzie, Olivia, Violet, Jack, Stella and Thomas,  brothers; Frederick (Nora) and Raymond (Sandra) Hart, sisters; Irene (Floyd), Marie Angell and Frances (Francis) Collins, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. 

In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her sister Doreen Keill, and her brothers-in-law Elmer Angle and Bob Keill. 

Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424).  In keeping with Emily’s wishes, visitation will be held prior to her funeral service on Saturday, June 16, 2018 from 10-11:30 am with the funeral service immediately following from the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel.   Interment will take place in Fernhill Cemetery followed by a reception in the Fundy Funeral Home Reception Area.   Memorial donations in Emily’s name to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick, Bobby’s Hospice, the NB Lung Association or to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by her family.
