It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of James Edward Leggett which occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Sunday, June 10th, 2018. Born 1930, in Saint John, he was the son of the late Charles and Elvena (Matthews) Leggett. Eddie worked in farm equipment sales for over 30 years. He was a member of the United Commercial Travellers since 1964 as well as a member of The Lions Club. In his earlier years, he enjoyed playing basketball and softball. Eddie also loved bowling and golfing in Moncton and Saint John and he enjoyed duck hunting with his family and his trusted companion Dusty.
Eddie is survived by his loving and devoted wife Winnifred (Gorham) of 66 years; daughters Heather Hicks (Robert) of Dieppe, Dale Moar (David) of Shediac; sister-in-law Eleanor Leggett; grandchildren Darryl Hicks, Stacy Kirwin, Linsey Schofield; great grandchildren Brody, Payton, Tristan, Scarlett and Jonah; as well as several nieces, nephews and friends. Besides his parents, Eddie was predeceased by his daughter Jenny Page and brothers Mayes and Paul.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation being held on Wednesday, June 13th from 10 to 12 p.m. A Memorial Service will begin at 12 noon in the Fundy Funeral Home chapel followed by an interment at Hardings Point Loyalist Cemetery. Donations in memory of Eddie may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
