After a long battle with Multiple System Atrophy, Dwight Arthur Thompson age 65, passed away peacefully and went to be with his personal Saviour on the morning of June 17, 2017 at Loch Lomond Villa “Birch House”, surrounded by his loving family and staff. Born on March 22, 1952 in Saint John, he was a son of the late Aletha “Connie” and Robert Thompson. Dwight was a faithful member of Mission Point First United Pentecostal Church, and a long standing member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America Local 1386 for 25 years.
Dwight will be sadly missed by his devoted and loving wife of 43 years, Wendy Thompson, children Jason (Sabrina) Thompson of Lawrencetown, NS, David (Reanie) Thompson of Hampton, and Sarah (Sherwin) MacBurnie of Browns Flat, six beautiful grandchildren; Brooke, Janelle, Madelyn, Maverick, Sherwin, and Cody; brothers Paul (Cora) Thompson of Fredericton, Keith (Mary) Thompson, Steven (Joanne) Thompson, Bruce (Jo-Anne) Thompson, and sister Susan Thompson, all of Saint John, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends. The family would like to thank our family, friends and church family who were there for Dwight during these hard times. The family would also like to extend their appreciation to the staff at Loch Lomond Villa “Birch House” for their excellent and loving care of Dwight during this difficult time.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) with visitation on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. A celebration of Dwight’s life will be held at Mission Point First United Pentecostal Church, 130 Mark Drive on Tuesday, June 20th at 11:00 a.m., with a reception immediately following. A private family interment will take place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens. Remembrances in memory of Dwight may be made to our Church Building Fund, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
