Dr. Delio Palomar Sangalang

With heavy hearts, the family of Dr. Delio Sangalang announces his passing, which occurred at St. Joseph’s Hospital on November 19th, 2018. Delio was born in Cavite, Philippines on March 5th, 1930; a son of the late Gregorio and Patrocinio (Palomar) Sangalang, and the loving husband of the late Gregonia (Ignacio) Sangalang. Delio attended medical school in the Philippines, and completed his residency in the US. Delio and his wife came to Canada prior to the birth of their children. He started his career in medicine as an Anesthesiologist, however he changed specialities to Geriatrics when the Saint John Regional Hospital opened, and continued in his field until he retired early at the age of 63. Delio’s career lead him to many different destinations throughout his career; New York City, Ottawa, Boston, Saint John and Campbellton, finally returning to Saint John to stay for the rest of his career. He was an avid casino fan as well, with Atlantic City being his favourite. Surviving are his sons; James (Cathy), Richard (Darlene), sisters Sinia and Lota, grandchildren Beverlee (Corey), Rikki (Serina) and Waverly, as well as great-grandchildren Cohen, Max and Morgan. Along with his wife and parents, Delio was pre-deceased by his son William. Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) with visitation being held on Saturday and Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8. In keeping with his wishes, there will be no funeral service, and a private interment will take place at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
