Douglas Gordon Greene

May 1, 1942 ~ October 5, 2017 (age 75) 75 Years Old

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Douglas Gordon Greene with his daughter by his side at the Saint John Regional Hospital on October 5, 2017.  He was born in Saint John, NB on May 1, 1942 and was the son of the late Corey and Sadie (Carson) Greene.

He is survived by his 2 daughters; Cynthia (Chris) and Sherri, 3 grandchildren; Kaitlyn, Rebecca and Jonathan, brother Donald (Sandra) Greene, many great nephews and great nieces and one great great niece.  Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Raymond.

Douglas was a long haul trucker who divided his time living in both Saint John, NB and Kingston, ON.  He liked to play guitar and sing whenever he had the chance.  Doug was a huge fan of NASCAR and the Toronto Blue Jays.  Doug was known for his love of his children and grandchildren, his sense of humour and his kind heart.  He never gave up or stopped fighting IPF for almost 5 years.

The family would like to thank the medical team at the SJRH Palliative Care Unit for the extraordinary care that Doug received along with the tremendous support and comfort that was given to the family.

Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424).  In keeping with Douglas’ wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral held.  Memorial donations made in Doug’s memory can be made to the SJRH Palliative Care Unit, IPF Foundation or to the charity of the donor’s choice and would be appreciated by his family.
