Donald Edward Smith

With heavy hearts, the family of Donald Smith announces his unexpected passing, which occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Monday, July 9th, 2018. Donald was born in Moncton on October 22, 1951; a son of the late Lloyd and Marion (Steeves) Smith, and the loving husband of Merleen (Allan) Smith. He worked for NB Tel for over 30 years, retiring at age 50; he then went on to work at the RKYC, and the Town of Hampton. He then went to the village of Sussex Corner as a clerk working at the town office, and retired on June 29th.

Along with his wife, Donald is survived by his daughters Michelle (Greg) Gillis and Bonnie (Mark) Kiervin, brothers Kenny Smith,  Reg Smith, and Ronald Smith (Cathy); sister Lynn Gaudet; grandchildren Marissa Gillis (Adam Herrit), Amy Gillis, Julia Kiervin, Zoe Kiervin, and Bella Kiervin, and great-grandson Carter Herrit. In addition to his parents, Don was pre-deceased by a brother, Doug Smith.  

Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) with visitation on Thursday and Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. A  tribute to a Lions Club Member will be held on Friday at 5:30PM. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 14th at 10am, from the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will take place in the Anagance Cemetery.
