The passing of Donald Francis Hunter of Hunter Lake, occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Sunday, June 2, 2019. Born 1940 in Saint John, he was the son of the late Frank and Mabel (Smith) Hunter.
In his early years, Don worked at the Saint John Shipyard and later with Rothesay Pulp and Paper. Following this, he became an owner and partner of Don Hunter and Sons Construction and Hunter Lake Lumber. A devoted family man, Don was always there for anyone who needed him.
Don was predeceased by his first wife Pearl (Cooke) and is survived by his wife Carolyn (Beam), children; Tim (Catherine) Hunter, Philip (Karen) Hunter, and Christine Melanson, step children; Jeffrey Beam, Jeremy (Kelly) Beam, Jennifer Beam and extended family. He is also survived by his siblings Alan (Adele) Hunter, Carl (Linda) Hunter and Carol (Hazen) McLean.
Don will be forever missed by his grandchildren; Leanne Hunter, Vanessa Giovannini, Matthew Hunter, Mallorie Witty, Adam Hunter and Lauren Hunter, great grandchildren; Willis Hunter and Melodie Giovannini.
In addition to his parents and loving first wife, Don is predeceased by his brothers Gerald, Royden and Marvin.
Resting at the Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) on Wednesday, June 5, 2019 between the hours of 2-4 and 6-9 PM. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, June 6 at 2:00 PM from the Fundy Chapel.
